After a successful launch of the Captivate modules we designed for the Elementary Spanish students, Prof. Blake and I decided to produce an even bigger piece of work for the Intermediate Spanish students at UC Davis – iCultura. The interesting difference here was that this was more of a team effort. While I recorded all the videos, and designed all of the initial activities, I had to design things in a templated format so that a team of graduate students and the instructor (all Captivate newbies at the time) could build out these lessons with minimal guidance from me. While I still had to come in and “clean up” the resulting files, this demonstrates my ability to setup template files, train others (including using the basics of Captivate), project manage, and still achieve excellent results. The team has learned how to use these files well enough that they have been able to update them a few times since I left UC Davis Academic Technology Services.
