Workshop (Face-to-Face Example)

This is a live, active learning workshop on instructional discussion strategies I delivered in October 2017. I review common techniques that can be used in both face-to-face and online classrooms to facilitate and promote discussion. In addition to presenting researched material, I also demonstrate the active learning strategies I’m reviewing which allows learners to practice what they’re learning. I have delivered dozens of presentations and workshops on a variety of subjects since first being given the opportunity in 2011 when hired by the UC Davis Academic Technology Services department as an instructional designer.

Note: Please feel free to skip around as this is a little over an hour session. I begin speaking around 2:25 and the active learning/discussion activities happen at 11:40, 31:40, and 58:20 if you’d like to see how I handle and facilitate those aspects of a workshop.
